শুধু SSC/HSC নয় BCS সহ বিভিন্ন চাকরি পরীক্ষায় Changing sentence হতে পরীক্ষায় প্রশ্ন আসে। Changing sentence এর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি অংশ হলো assertive to imperative । Assertive to Interrogative, Conversion of sentence এর অন্তর্গত। এক প্রকার sentence কে অন্যপ্রকার sentence এ রূপান্তর করাকে Conversion of sentence বলে। Transformation of sentence এ অর্থের পরিবর্তন না হলেও Conversion of sentence এ অর্থের পরিবর্তন হয়। নিচে assertive to imperative rules in bangla দেওয়া হয়েছে।

imperative sentence কাকে বলে?
Assertive to imperative
1. Assertive sentence এর subject যদি second person (you) হয়, তবে Imperative sentence টি মূল verb দ্বারা শুরু হবে। এক্ষেত্রে মূল verb এর পূর্বের অংশ বাদ যাবে। তবে Assertive sentence টি Negative হলে Do + not + verb দ্বারা শুরু হবে। যেমন:
i. Assertive: You should help the poor.
imperative: Help the poor.
ii. You must not violate rules and regulation.
imperative: Do not violate rules and regulation.
ব্যাখ্যা: i. নং বাক্যটি Affirmative হওয়ায় মূল verb দ্বারা বাক্যটি শুরু হয়েছে।
ii. নং বাক্যটি Negative হওয়ায় Do + Not + verb দ্বারা বাক্যটি শুরু হয়েছে। উভয় ক্ষেত্রে মূল verb এর আগের অংশ বাদ হয়ে গেছে।
2. Assertive sentence এ যদি request কথাটি থাকে, তবে imperative করার সময় please/kindly + verb দ্বারা বাক্যটি শুরু হবে। যেমন:
Assertive: I request you to give me some water.
imperative: Please, give me some water.
3. Assertive sentence টি যদি 1st person কিংবা 3rd person subject দ্বারা শুরু হয় তাহলে imperative sentence টি Let দ্বারা শুরু হবে। এ ক্ষেত্রে imperative sentence টির গঠন প্রণালি হবে নিম্নরুপ।
Let + objective case of the pronoun (me/us/him/her/them) + verb + বাক্যের বাকী অংশ। যেমন:
i. Assertive: I must do it.
imperative: Let me do it.
ii. Assertive: He should talk to her.
imperative: Let him talk to her.

4. Never যুক্ত Assertive sentence কে imperative করার নিয়ম:
প্রদত্ত Never + প্রদত্ত মূল verb + বাক্যের বাকী অংশ। যেমন:
Assertive: You should never tell a lie.
imperative: Never tell a lie.
5. 1st person কিংবা 3rd person subject দ্বারা শুরু হওয়া Assertive sentence কে imperative করার নিয়ম: Let + subject এর object form + প্রদত্ত not থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত। যেমন:
i. Assertive: We do not hate the poor.
imperative: Let us not hate the poor./Let's not hate the poor.
ii. Assertive: Nilu does not run in the sun.
imperative: Let not Nilu run in the sun.
ব্যাখ্যা: ii. নং বাক্যটিতে 'Let' verb এর object টি noun হওয়ায় not এরপর noun টি বসেছে। আর i. নং বাক্যটিতে 'Let' verb এর object টি Pronoun হওয়ায় not এর আগে Pronoun টি বসেছে।
